Description

Green Hell for PC is a survival game in an open world format, where the player must survive – and try to thrive – in an unusual location for such games which are usually set in deserts or arid landscapes – places survival is hard because of a lack of resources. This game parks you firmly on the banks of the Amazon river with all the dangers that entails: poisonous plants, bad water, dangerous creatures and natives who may or may not welcome intruders into their domain!

About the Game

In story mode you are Dr Jake Higgins – again an apparent improvement on other survival games, as it means you start with some advantages and knowledge. You are looking to find your wife, Mia, who is bent on making friends with local tribespeople because she speaks their language – she is Jake’s interpreter, as well as his partner.

However, this rather blinds her to the dangers of those who do not wish her well, and Jake, whose only current contact with her is via a radio, must keep himself alive and track her down before it is too late. Jake’s progress is constrained by the need to learn on the go, making and then using tools that give him access to more of the jungle, each one hopefully taking him ever closer to Mia. There are multiple endings, so the game is worth replaying to see how the other endings play out.

Need to Know

Jake is armed with a useful satellite watch which doubles as your health monitor and a compass to keep you on track. Your inventory all fits into your backpack, so it is with you all the time, and you save by building a shelter, wherever you are. Remember to save before committing yourself to a tricky crossing or feat, and in a place where you are relatively safe – it’s mildly irritating to repeatedly die seconds into any save!

It’s not just basic food along with clean water and sleep that you need in this game, you need to get the right balance of fats, carbs and proteins which makes it a lot trickier to accomplish, despite the abundance of potential nourishment all around you. You can check your limbs, one at a time and in fair detail, so you can spot wounds, leeches, bugs, bites and rashes as soon as they start affecting your health status.

There is also a sanity bar which you should keep an eye on, especially when Jake is particularly stressed, ill or exhausted! If you start losing your mind, your grip on reality wanders and the music becomes poignant, and the colour drains from the world. The jungle will try and kill you even harder in this state, but you can recover by performing ‘normal’ actions, such as curing minor illnesses, drinking good water, eating well, and getting caught up on your sleep etc.

Ways to Play

The beginning of story mode – about ten minutes or so – is identical to the tutorial, and it cannot be skipped, so you could miss the tutorial and dive straight into story mode. If you survive first time out (highly unlikely!) you will be away, without needing to do it all again, for real this time.

You can play with a buddy in story mode, and have a friend along to keep an eye out for danger, slap a cure together and generally look out for each other.

Co-operative multi-play is also available in online survival mode where you and three others work to keep the team alive and on the move.
Whichever mode you play, it is possible to survive, but the game does not make it easy – you have to work at it and you may well finish the game exhausted and feeling as though the real Amazon wouldn’t be quite so determined to make you dead! In both modes there are plenty of missions and side quests to work through.

Crafting is – surprisingly – super simple. Just gather what you need – usually just one of each item – and then drag and drop them together and voila, the item is made. You must have a shelter to save the game, as mentioned above, so make the first one early and then save often as you progress!

Pro tip – coconuts are your friend! They are clean water, food and even bowls all in one. Gather as many as you can carry!

Exciting Ways to Die in the Jungle!

Jaguars will kill you with enthusiasm, enjoying you for dinner while you curse and respawn, trying to remember exactly where they were so as to avoid them this time round, but there are a great many ways to die in this appropriately named green hell – here are just some of them!

  • Arrows – not all the locals are happy to see you, and despite Mia’s insistences, some of them will happily try to kill you!

  • Falls – all that lush green growth can be deceptive, with lethal drops suddenly opening under your unwary feet

  • Venom – famously, venom is what snakes squirt into when they bite, poison is what kills you should you eat it. But you are not going to be bothered about using the right word when snakes are falling out of trees and biting you, creeping up behind you and biting you, or appearing apparently out of nowhere and – you guessed it – biting you!

  • Poison – watch what you eat, as some of the berries, animals and leaves will, if not outright kill you (although some do!), make you very ill, and open to dying from any number of other causes.

  • Dehydration – just as in real life, not drinking enough water is a major problem. And despite the fact that there is plenty of water, unlike in other survival games, you need to be careful about drinking it! Water must be clean and bug free if it isn’t going to make you sick. Oh, and check yourself, if you’ve been near water you almost certainly have a leech or twenty somewhere about your person! This will make Jake’s health bar start dropping, so be sure to sort it quickly!

  • Green Hell for PC is available for purchase on Instant Gaming for a fraction of its retail price. You will receive an official key and be able to play the game in seconds. Play smart. Pay less.

If you are looking for the ultimate surivival experience look somewhere else the game is not bad actually the survival aspects are amazing but the wildlife having only a couple animals and all of them having really bad AI makes the experience worse and completly breaks the imersion

for 5€ its not a bad gaem especially nota bad survival game but it just needs more updates and a complete ai rework

    good game
Green Hell is one of the most intense survival games I’ve ever played. Right from the start, the game makes it clear that this is no casual experience. I found myself stranded in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, completely alone, with nothing but my instincts and whatever I could scavenge. The game doesn't hold your hand—you have to figure out how to craft, hunt, and treat wounds, and every mistake can be deadly.

What really impressed me was the level of realism. I had to manage my hydration, nutrition, and even my sanity. The jungle itself feels alive—dense vegetation, dynamic lighting, and an incredible soundscape make every step feel like a struggle for survival. At night, I never felt safe, whether it was because of lurking predators, tropical diseases, or just the constant fear of the unknown.

The story mode added another layer to the experience, giving me a real reason to push forward despite the brutal challenges. However, the difficulty is no joke. Some mechanics, like infections and sanity loss, felt a bit too punishing at times, and the UI can be frustrating, especially when trying to craft under pressure.

Despite these issues, Green Hell is an unforgettable survival experience. It’s not for the faint of heart, but if you love deep, immersive survival games that truly test your skills, this is absolutely worth playing.
    • Highly immersive and realistic survival mechanics
    • Stunning visuals and atmospheric sound design
    • Harsh difficulty curve
    • Cumbersome inventory and crafting system
    just go play it
is this the best survival I played? no but I can't deny that this game is not like other survival games and has it's own charm
    • realistic mechanics
    • difficulty can get annoying
    Didn't like that game
starved, passed out and got worms, bit by a snake, and chased into an anthill by a jaguar, ripped endless leeches off my arms and died from infection.... 10/10 will play again.
Pretty sure it's good but it's far to micro managed for me, also hit a couple of game ending bugs like notepad menu not showing but locking the screen anyway
    low game
It’s a great game and instant gaming has a great deal

You can play that game with friends thats awesome but it is a little bit buggy so you cant actually enjoy it that much, for example my friend had an log the whole time in his hand and had godmode.

But thats understandable its new in multiplayer so its awesome
Beautiful and amazing game - if you like challenging survival games this is a great game - the story is amazing and they update still after years of release - I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes a challenge. - Can also play multiplayer which is so much fun to play with friends

I really like the game and I think it is the best survival game out there although it can be REALLY hard at first. Multiplayer is also great and I really think that this game is to cheap for its quality

Just started and I'm already scared and In love with this game. Its kinda like the forest but I say more survival parts to it. I've also yet to meet any natives and hope their friendly..brutal and amazing.
I'v seen in on youtube and decide to take a try it seems very fun and realistic what is important to me. i think a postive point is that you can play it with freinds that i probably will try, shoud be fun :)
so worth getting. Frustratingly fun and really great on multiplayer co-op! The best advise for anyone just starting is, use the buddy system on the multiplayer if you want to live past day one!!! and keep bandages on you at all times! Coconuts are your friend (food, drink, bowl to collect rain)
    • fun
    • die a lot
I'll give it a solid 80 points, really just wanna vote it positive and negative, don't wanna argue here. So I'm just gonna write random things in here and stuff like that. I enjoy the game, fun, and entertaining.
    • Feels very realistic
    • Smooth if 1 player or a nice gaming rig
    • Takes time to get used to
    • 10x harder than The Forest (Baby game compared to this)
    • Really fun playing with good friends
    • Fps drops when friends are joining
    • Hardest game right now on the market (Medium not bad or good)
    • So hard that i even myself quit for a while
    • Constant paranoia
Amazing survival game with a lot of building options and survival adventures that take place in amazon jungle. i recommend this game to every survival fan. Game can be very challenging in the beginning but when you learn basics then start the fun part
